About the Artist:

I have been painting and creating since I was very young.
My art studies in school and college were focused on traditional subjects:
Portraits, Still Life, Mixed Media, Art History.

For several years in the 1980’s I designed original knitwear.
This led me to additional studies at the Oregon College of Art & Craft
When I moved to Portland in 1987. There I focused on Surface Design
& French Pictorial Tapestry. For15 years I created tapestry commissions a
national clientele in liturgical, corporate & private collections.

In 2010 I began to paint outside on location “En Plein Air”
with wc., gouache and oil painting materials from two local Paint Houses
right here in Oregon: Gamblin Artists Colors & M. Graham Co.
I paint with oils on location in the PNW whenever possible! In winter I
return to water based materials in my home studio.

Over the years since 2010 I have traveled to the PACE Conventions &
had the pleasure of painting in beautiful locations in the western USA:
Monterrey, Ca….San Francisco, Ca….Denver, Co….Santa Fe, NM.
I will be painting in the Whidbey Island Plein Air event again this
summer. My family is in the Seattle area & I often paint on Bainbridge
Island, Wa.

Artists I admire: Vincent VanGogh, Paul Cezanne, Mark Rothko, Georgia
O’Keeffe, Kehinde Wiley, Robert Gamblin, Helen Frankenthaler, Mary
Cassatt, Yuming Zhu. I earned my BFA with my Professor of Art at
Connecticut College Barkley Hendricks. (Collected in The Yale Museum of
Art & The Smithsonian for African American Art).
