Help sustain Menucha now and into the future.

Give

Yearly Giving

Yearly gifts provide for this special place’s most urgent needs, collectively forming a base of sustaining financial support to help Menucha deliver its mission of enriching lives.

Menucha Fund

The Menucha Fund represents how our donors can offer their general support to this wonderful place. From helping to fund our own programs in music, faith, and art to maintaining the infrastructure so we can host groups of all sizes and shapes, these yearly contributions are essential.

If you are 72 or older and contribute directly from your traditional IRA to a qualified charity—like Menucha—you can potentially reduce your tax burden.

Targeted Giving

Restricted or targeted gifts have also been tremendously helpful for Menucha. Donors and funding agencies have helped with special projects such as replacing the roof of Wright Hall and painting the exteriors of Ballard Hall, Beam House, and Boyd Hall. We would love to hear if you have an idea for a specific project you’d like to support!

Legacy Giving

Explore the Different Ways to Make an Impact

As we seek to secure this sacred space’s future, we hope you consider including Menucha in your planned giving. At Menucha, we often consider the importance of legacy—we are grateful for those who came before and want to provide future stewards with the resources they will need to ensure that our mission to enrich lives continues.

Please look at the options, and don’t hesitate to contact us for support or questions. We would also love to know if you have included Menucha in your estate plan.

Endowment Fund

In the coming years, Menucha hopes to establish an endowment fund to care for and maintain our 100+ acres and numerous buildings and systems. The principal will be protected into perpetuity, and only the earnings will be available for spending. Of course, these crucial expenses could be fully covered if the fund becomes large enough.

Contributing to creating an endowment will provide significant tax advantages and connect future generations of your family to Menucha. As with most established nonprofits, an endowment will be an essential long-term investment that builds assets for our sustainability.

Bequests

An estate gift can be made through a will or a trust, and options enable you to distribute assets to individuals and organizations in the amounts or proportions indicated. Benefits include:

  • The opportunity to make a major gift while preserving assets during your lifetime.
  • Reduction in federal estate taxes.
  • The chance to designate your gift to support a specific need or program at Menucha.

A donor's estate may transfer all assets, including cash, dollars, real estate, and tangible personal property, to Menucha.

Life Insurance

Donors can use life insurance to make a gift by designating Menucha as the owner and beneficiary. A donor receives a charitable income tax deduction based on the lesser of the policy’s fair market value or the net premiums paid. Donors may also wish to make gifts of paid-up policies, resulting in a charitable income tax deduction for the policy’s cash surrender value

Real Estate

Property may be given outright to support Menucha's mission, and the donor can take a charitable income tax deduction based on the appraised value of the property.

Retained Life Estate is another option where a donor gives a personal residence to Menucha and retains the right to live in the home for life. The donor is responsible for maintenance costs, insurance, and real estate taxes, and to substantiate the value of the property, the donor must obtain an appraisal from an independent qualified appraiser.

Retirement Plans

Giving a qualified retirement plan asset, such as a 401(k), 403(b), IRA, Keogh, or pension plan, is another way to benefit Menucha and receive significant tax savings. Retirement plan assets are often subject to extremely high estate taxes, and the income is fully taxable when received by an individual beneficiary.

By naming Menucha as the beneficiary, the donor maintains complete control over the assets during their lifetime. However, at the donor’s death, the plan passes to Menucha free of estate donors' taxes. When creating an estate plan, donors may consider leaving their heirs other assets, such as cash and securities, which are less highly taxed.

And if you are 72 or older, you can contribute anytime directly from your IRA without it being considered a taxable distribution.

Stock

Appreciated stock gifts are an easy and tax-effective way to make a gift to Menucha. You can avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale and receive a charitable income tax deduction. Stocks or bonds can be transferred electronically from your brokerage or investment account to Menucha. Let us know if you hold securities in certificate form, and we can advise on the next steps.

I just hope Menucha goes on forever and that everybody can experience in the future what we’ve been able to enjoy in our lifetime. – Janet Eastmanwe’verd-generation member of First Presbyterian Church

Guest Groups

Menucha is a nonprofit organization that primarily serves other non-profits. We also host religious groups and family reunions and have one space for personal retreats. Menucha offers a wide range of lodging, from dormitory style to semi-private and private rooms; many of these are wheelchair accessible. Wireless internet access is widely available. In addition to residential and indoor meeting facilities, there are outdoor recreational and gathering spaces during the summer. One thing we consistently hear is that guests love our delicious family-style meals.

Menucha Programs

Since 2006, Menucha has hosted our programs primarily in faith, music, and art. From our yearly Ukulele Band Camp to our popular Scrap & Sews (coming together to build community while working on your projects), you won’t regret joining us — and they’re open to everyone!
