Preaching and Teaching John during the Lenten and Easter Seasons

For many centuries, dating back to the ancient Jerusalem liturgy, the Church has singled out stories from John’s Gospel for reflection during Lent (the stories of Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the man born blind, and the raising of Lazarus).  The lectionary also features texts from John throughout the season of Easter.  We will prepare for preaching and teaching Johannine texts through collective reflection on them and consideration of new angles of vision provided by recent methodologies and interpreters who read the Bible from different social locations.

The retreat begins at 11:30 am on Monday and concludes mid-afternoon Tuesday.
