Today, in a culture where we are constantly attached to one another via cell phones, email, chat, Facebook, Twitter, texting, or instant messaging, we forget we must have a primary connection with God before we reach out with authentic contact to others. This retreat is designed for anyone wishing to deepen their awareness of God through silence, reflection and walking the labyrinth.
Our first day/night we will meet one another, introduce the Spirituality Center, and then dismiss for an evening/night of fasting, silence, and the Daily Examen (materials provided). The following day we will introduce the Labyrinth, a few ways to pray with it and have an opportunity to discuss several of the spiritual disciplines from the Spirituality Center. We will practice one together, then, individuals may choose which discipline(s) to practice on their own during the rest of the morning. After lunch, we will practice another discipline, then choose others to practice on their own the rest of the afternoon. After dinner, weather permitting, we will do a candle-lit labyrinth, engage in another evening of silence and retire for individual Daily Examen. Our second morning together we will practice a spiritual discipline, choose our activity, then meet for lunch and closure.
