Where is Menucha? How do I get there?
Menucha is located on the south side of the Columbia River Gorge, in Corbett, Oregon, inside the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.  Menucha is just a 30-40 minute ride from downtown Portland, PDX airport, and Portland’s AMTRAK train terminal. Freeways I-84 and I-205 provide easy access by car from all directions. Driving instructions can be found here. Our entrance is located at 38711 E Historic Columbia River Highway.

Where do I go when I arrive? Where is the office?
If you have not received any specific directions from your group leader about where to meet, please stop in at the office to find out your group’s location and the best place to park and unload. At the end of our entrance road, you’ll see a welcome sign. Our office is in part of the building just behind the welcome sign. Drive forward and you’ll see the office front door on your left. Click here for a map of the Menucha property and buildings.

What are your office hours?
Our office is staffed from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Please feel free to drop by with your questions or needs. All of our staff members are here to serve you.

Where do I park?
To reach the main parking lot, you’ll drive on past the office, past Wright Hall (large building on your left) and continue downhill about 200 feet to a large gravel parking lot.

What should I bring?
We have a general check list for packing that you can use to begin planning your stay.  Sheets and towels are provided in some buildings (Wright Hall, Beam House, Boyd Hall, Creevey, The Hideaway, McCall House) and by prior arrangement with group leaders for other buildings. If you have a question about whether or not to bring your sleeping bag, please contact your group leader or our office.

May I bring my dog?
Pets must be left at home. Pets are not permitted on the grounds except for Service Animals as defined by the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act). Non-service animals found on the property will incur a $300.00 cleaning fee and the guest will be asked to immediately remove the pet from the premises. Please notify the office in advance if your intent is to bring a service animal. There may be an extra charge if damages are caused by service animals.

When is the pool open?
The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.  Our pool is outdoors and unheated. We require that guests follow all posted safety rules. No lifeguard is on duty and swimming is at your own risk.

Does Menucha do weddings?
Normally we do not. We suggest you check out weddings at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland.

Does Menucha provide meals for people with special diets such as vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, etc.?
Menucha’s kitchen staff works very hard to provide proper meals for our guests with alternate diets. You may find out more information about meals and alternate diets by reading the information found here. Once you have registered to attend a retreat, please submit this online form. We ask for it at least three weeks in advance because early planning enables us to coordinate meals, order proper food and schedule staff. There is a fee per day for this service noted at the top of the form. Menucha Program participants do not pay extra for Alternate Diets.

Does Menucha have a gift shop?
Not at the present time.  Come to our office for toiletry items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, feminine hygiene items, etc.

Does Menucha have laundry facilities?
We do not have public laundry facilities. If a need should arise, please contact the office and we’ll see if one of our laundry machines is available, or we can suggest the closest public facilities.

Does Menucha have internet access?
Yes. If you brought your computer with you and have wireless capabilities, you will find that most of our buildings are WiFi friendly (except the Barn). We do not require that you have a password to connect to our system. Ethernet connections are available in Creevey Commons.  You may borrow Ethernet cables from our office.

What are meal times at Menucha?
Breakfast     8:00 am
Lunch          12:00 noon
Dinner          6:00 pm  (7:00 pm on Fridays)
Please arrive on time so your food will be hot. Also, we serve family-style, around tables for 8 people, and it is most convenient if all begin eating at the same time.

Do you have a soda machine?
Yes, our Coke machine is located outside at the west end of Wright Hall.

What about nearby stores, post office, pharmacy?

– Corbett Country Market: These folks carry a bit of everything, from deli and grocery items to gasoline. It is the closest place to pick up the stuff you forgot. Turn right out of our exit. It is located about a mile down the road in Corbett on the right.

– Corbett Post Office: Open Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (they close from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm for lunch). Turn right out of our exit. It is located about 1 ¼ miles in Corbett on the left. (It’s a bit hard to see – look for the post office sign on the right…it’s just across the street).

– Walgreens Pharmacy and Safeway Grocery: Turn right out of our exit. Travel down the Historic Columbia River Highway for about 5 ½ miles. Turn left onto Stark Street crossing the Sandy River Bridge. Continue on Stark Street through 2 stop lights. Just after the 3rd light (Kane/257th) you will see Walgreens and Safeway on the right.
